This is exactly the case with the PS Vita, and in this entry we will learn a few really cool features that will help you enjoy it even more, save time and fix it. Ready? Let’s go.
1. Download Music Straight From the Web
Sony’s PS Vita uses an operating system that is quite open, allowing for things that you can simply not do on say a closed system like iOS (though after the launch iOS 8, that might be something that’s not entirely true.. Apple opened up many aspects of it this time). One of those things is downloading music right from the web. For iOS devices, you have to get your music through the iTunes Store or transfer it via iTunes. On your PS Vita though, you can simply open the browser and look for any website that carries, say, mp3 files or any other audio file supported by console. Once you find the song you want, click on its Download button and your PS Vita will ask you to save it. Do so and the song will start to download. Once it is done, you will be able to listen to it right from the music app without issues. Pretty neat!
2. Unlock Your PS Vita In Less Than a Second
This tip is pretty cool and little known even to seasoned Vita gamers: Usually you unlock your PS Vita by sliding your finger from the top right towards the bottom left of the screen, like if you were ‘peeling off’ the wallpaper. However, unless you have big hands, this move forces you to release your grip on your Vita with at least one hand, and it also causes the screen to become smudged. You can solve this by ‘tricking’ the Vita OS though. All you have to do is, while on the lock screen, use your right thumb to tap on the top right corner of the screen, and then use your left thumb to tap on the lower left corner. This will make your Vita ‘think’ you performed the peeling gesture and it will unlock instantly. Besides, once you learn the move, you will be able to unlock your PS Vita insanely fast.
3. Activate Safe Mode
While rarely, sometimes your PS Vita might start acting up and it might even happen that it won’t start up normally. For those occasions, before thinking you lost your gaming console, you can try activating its Safe Mode feature. With Safe Mode, you will be able to start your PS Vita with the minimum functionality required for it to work. Once there, you can then execute one of the options, which might help you solve your issue. To enable Safe Mode, press and hold these three buttons for five seconds while your system is completely OFF (not standby): “R” button + PS button + Power button After pressing those buttons for five seconds, your PS Vita will boot up in Safe Mode, allowing you to reboot it, to format your memory card, to restore it to its factory settings, to update it to the latest software version or, more importantly, to rebuild its database, which in most cases will solve your issues. There you go. If you have a PS Vita, then you now know how to get it up and running again, plus another couple of really cool things that you can do with it. Enjoy!
